Story living that reinforces storytelling

Have you ever heard the phrase "Culture eats strategy for breakfast."?

You may have the best and prettiest words in the world in your brand guidelines, your policies and procedures, and even on your well and website.
You may even have painted a beautiful image of you're preferred future with a magnificent mission and vision.
But these will all be for nought if they are not lived out.
Culture is crafted and maintained, not (only) with precise words and strategy but, through demonstrated meaning through the action of those caring for and carrying the culture forward.
Do those you're leading see actions that support and demonstrate the meaning of your words?
It's one thing to tell a story. It's another to live it out.
So when you consider your values, your mission, your vision - all of those words you agonized over in focus groups and "culture meetings" - make sure you're prepared to live out what they mean.
If part of your vision is, let's say "to inspire" then make sure to know how you want this to look and show within your organization at every level. Put the work into to inspire your people and affirm when they do something inspiring. And of course let this flow out through your marketing of what is hopefully an inspiring product.
If one of your core values is "Sustainability"; put in the work to provide examples to your team, customers and community of what you mean and how this looks in and through you.
Words matter. But actions hold them up.
Stories bring them together to make them memorable and easy to use in decision making.
